Astra Zeneca Health and Safety Kiosk

Security Kiosk Interactive MediaHealth and safety in the workplace is an extremely important aspect of any business, particularly when you’re the world’s largest pharmaceutical company working with dangerous, flammable and explosive substances.

The health and safety director at the Macclesfield plant fully appreciated this importance and commissioned the installation of a visitor Health and Safety Kiosk. The concept was simple and highly effective, with any visitor or contractor having to confirm their knowledge of the site procedures before being allowed on-site.

Each visitor is required to log in to the kiosk on their way to reception; after watching a 5 minute video they are presented with 4 multiple choice questions regarding on-site health and safety. Only upon successful completion of all questions will their on-site pass be printed and approved by reception.

Pinstripe Creative used a combination of programming languages to complete the software application, which ran within a specially designed touchscreen kiosk frame by FRAB Ltd. The kiosk was also integrated into the corporate network, enabling the unit to be easily updated and Microsoft SQL was utilised for data capture and retrieval.

With the effectiveness of this system clear to see and the ongoing growth in safe-guarding facilities, it is apparent that this type of security enabled kiosk will be in high demand. The team are already working on a new version which will utilise webcam’s, electronic card readers and biometric scanning to authenticate users.
